Description
This Macallan 1948 was selected from but three Spanish Oak Sherry casks, laid down to mature in the cold of winter 1948, at Macallan on the Easter Elchies estate.
Distilled from barley harvested in the late summer of 1947, this very rare single malt whisky bears the hallmarks expected of The Macallan’s mastery of excellence, revealing a resinous, spicy, citrus character, swathed in fruit and the rich phenols associated with the immediate post war years.
The bottle comes with a signed certificate from distillery manager David G Robertson and bears the date 25th March. These were bottled a day at a time with each bottle bearing a unique date. The original wooden box and transport tube are included, the box is missing a length of string but there are no other issues. . Obviously the outer seal of the transport tube has been broken. All other items are in very good condition. Fill level is midway up the neck, stopper and foil capsule are unblemished.
