Mitchell & Son are a specialist wine and spirit merchant who used to bring their used wine casks to the John Jameson distillery in Bow Street for filling with whiskey. To mark their bi-centenary in 2005 Mitchell & Son approached Irish Distillers some time before with a view to selecting three casks of the excellent ‘John Jameson & Son Irish Whiskey’. From these casks only 1,000 bottles of whiskey would be bottled. The single pot still whiskey was distilled in 1994 at Midleton by Barry Crockett and in turn the three casks were selected by the Chief Blender Billy Leighton for this special 40% abv of Green Spot from February 2005.
