Green Spot 12 Year Old Bi-Centenary Edition
A very rare bottling from the bottlers of Green Spot, Mitchell & Son, 21 Kildare St, Dublin 2 distilled in 1991 and bottled in February 2005 to celebrate their bi-centenary. Mitchell & Son are a specialist wine and spirit merchant who used to bring their used wine casks to the John Jameson distillery in Bow Street for filling with whiskey. The resulting whiskey was held in bond in their own warehouses for up to 15 years. It was then bottled as Blue (7yo), Green (10yo), Yellow (12yo) and Red (15yo) Spot range of whiskeys. The Green Spot 12 Year Old is an incredibly special single pot still whiskey that was released to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mitchells wine merchants. It is now very hard to get hold of and is very scarce. The single pot still whiskey was distilled at Midleton by Barry Crockett and in turn the Chief Blender Billy Leighton had to select the perfect cask for this special bottling of Green Spot. It was the first releases bottled at cask strength (58% abv) and is a stunning example of a bourbon barrel matured whiskey. This is a single cask of 200 bottles that has been bottled at cask strength of 58%. This is bottle number 90.
